Croeso
(That's a warm Welsh welcome!)
Set in the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, near Llangollen described by Lloyd George as 'a little piece of heaven on earth', The Oak is a traditional Welsh free house pub with a contemporary twist. The Ceiriog Valley is one of Wales' best kept secrets, only three miles over the hill from Llangollen yet enjoying the tranquillity and beauty of the Welsh landscape at its best.
The Oak is definitely a local's local. With a genuinely Welsh atmosphere and local lads playing folk music on most Wednesday evenings in the bar, ask anyone in the know and they will recommend you here. We also cater for groups, small wedding parties and other events.
Sit on the deck and enjoy stunning views of the Ceiriog Valley or relax in our restaurant and enjoy some of best food in the area, all locally sourced and freshly made by our award winning Head Chef, Jamie Durkin. Booking is strongly recommended as we do get very busy.
The Oak has two self contained apartments above the pub, which have been furnished to a high standard. One can cater for four guests, the other five, making The Oak a perfect base for walkers, bikers, fisherman and lovers of the countryside and just those wanting to experience a genuine Welsh welcome.
How to find us
Coming into Chirk from Oswestry on the A5, take the left turn on to the B4500 for Glyn Ceiriog. On entering the village, proceed to the small mini roundabout at the centre of the village and turn right up the High Street (Stryd Fawr). We are 100 yards on the rightalong this street.
