Meet The Oak Team

Gafyn Davies, Owner

Gafyn is a local lad, although he did live in New Zealand for three years and came back with a very curious accent and many tales of travels and adventures. Always a welcoming smile and good conversation, A keen gardener, Gafyn also has his very own Ceiriog Valley blueberry plantation, which must be seen and tasted to be believed. Simply delicious!

Jamie Durkin, Head Chef

Jamie came to The Oak after establishing himself as one of the area's best chefs. Jamie has a loyal fan base and has people driving for miles to come and eat his food! Jamie is also a self confessed toffee man and is known for his fanatical following of Everton and his dubious jokes about Liverpool fans.

Bob Walters, Chef

What Bob doesn't know about food isn't worth knowing. Another lad with links to Glyn, Bob has worked in some of the best restaurants around the country. A keen fisherman and snowboarder, Bob has enough hobbies for ten people, and can be often seen walking up the Glyn with two decoy ducks strapped to his back. Weird!

Sharron Goulbourn, Waiting Staff

Sharron is a Wigan lass who has escaped over the border. With family from Glyn Ceiriog, Sharron came back three years ago. Known for being 'a bit bonkers' on nights out, Sharron's antics are legendary. She is also our chief tug of war cheer leader, with The Oak winning The Ceiriog valley battle of the pubs tug of war this year.

Lyndsey Collohan and Annie Gilchrist, Waiting Staff

Lyndsey is currently doing her A Levels and works for The Oak part time. Lyndsey loves horses and riding and enjoys going to Young Farmers events, apparently to learn all about farming. Yeah! Annie is at college and has trained in Beauty Therapy, which means that Indian Head Massage may well soon be put on the menu!

Carys Davies, Owner

Carys is often found moonlighting at The Oak away from her day job where she teaches at Yale College. A total grammar freak, Carys flips at inaccurate apostrophes on the sweet board.
